Ok, is this my second post in two years? I don't think I quite understand what a blog is for. Someone told me to type what I'm doing. Ok, I'm typing these words into the blogger. How's that...

OCTOBER
WORKSHOP

During
workshop, the children will rotate to four very fun parent-run
stations to do some exciting October activities. The groups will
learn spider facts, make a picture using written directions, do
pumpkin math, and complete a scarecrow glyph and writing project.

EARLY
DISMISSAL

We
are back to our regular spelling lists. The focus this week is
consonant clusters. Practice, Practice, Practice! Please allow time
throughout the week to practice spelling with your child. This
could be in the car, at the dinner table, or at night before they
turn out the lights. The first words I hear after they have
completed their test is, “I can’t wait to tell my
parents!” Thanks for making this a priority.

Last
day for “Walk for Water” donations

.We
will continue the study of “Lifecycles”

in
science this week. We have learned a lot so far, and this week we
will learn even MORE! Ask your child to tell you about the life
cycle of a dragonfly, butterfly, or human. This week, we will
discuss complete and incomplete metamorphosis.

Library
Spelling
Test

In
reading this week we will read a nonfiction story called, Exploring
Parks with Ranger Dockett
. We will be learning about consonant
clusters (r,l,s), two sounds for c, fact/opinion, and reviewing
antonyms, long vowels, and consonant clusters.

Picture
Re-takes

We
have started a unit in math working with nonstandard units of
measurement. The class will be involved in many hands-on math
problems involving measuring. They will collect, organize, and
graph data results from math lessons.
